Below are just a few ways in which you can utilize MediaCinch's services.
Pre-Delivery
Probably the most common scenario, Pre-Delivery allows you to issue the license before
the customer downloads the file. For example, a customer would visit your website to browse
your catalog while adding any files of interest to a shopping cart, once satisfied with their
selections they would then proceed to checkout. After a successful checkout (e.g. their credit
card was approved), a simple call would be quietly dispatched to MediaCinch, using the programming
language of your choice (i.e. PHP, ASP, Ruby, etc.), who returns the requested license(s).
This process takes only a second or two, after which you would direct the customer the appropriate
file download location.
Post-Delivery
With this model, you can distribute content by making it freely downloadable. Once the
consumer plays the file he/she is directed to a form which requests payment (be it in the
form of a credit card, check, gift certificate, etc.). This model is perfect in the case
of super-distribution; where you allow people to distribute your file to friends or customers
who may then distribute to their friends, etc.
Subscription/Membership Model
When a customer registers as a member on your site you would issue a license to play your
file(s), typically through predelivery (see 'Predeliver License' above); this license is
usually set to expire in 30-days but you can alter this based on your business model. At
the end of the billing period, the customer connects to your site and the license is
automatically refreshed provided the customer has paid the monthly fee. Otherwise, the
license simply expires and the content can no longer be accessed.
NOTE: This example illustrates the second half of this scenario -- when the user connects
to refresh the license. In this case, we use a login box to authenticate the customer but
there are more advanced techniques that you could employ which are beyond the scope of
this demo.
Promotional
This is a great way to build your website's popularity and expand your company's
presence. In our example we prompt for an email address but in your case this could
be anything you'd like.
